Clean Air Act Information Collection Request (ICR) for Electric Steam Generating Units (EGUs)

As you are probably aware, the recent Section 114 ICR requires emission testing for 12% of coal- or gas-fired EGUs. Hundreds of units will need to complete testing within six to eight months.

Enthalpy Analytical, Inc., a NELAC-accredited air lab, is ready to help you meet this aggressive timeline.

Founded by stack testers, we understand the challenges of testing these sources. Enthalpy provides low detection limits, fast turnaround times, and a variety of analytical approaches so you can choose the best technique for your project.

Whether it's in-lab analysis or supporting your test team with onsite FTIR testing, we bring experience gained from thousands of test projects to ensure your project meets regulatory requirements and is delivered on-time in a cost-effective manner.

Formaldehyde / EPA Method 320, EPA Method 316, or SW-846 Method 0011

  • Analysis by onsite FTIR spectroscopy for immediate results. Alternative methods: EPA Method 316 (analysis by spectrophotometry), SW-846 Method 0011 (HPLC/UV). Enthalpy ships M0011 (DNPH) reagent, spikes and supplies with three day advance notice.

Hydrogen Cyanide / Conditional Test Method 033 (CTM-033), EPA Method 320, EPA Method 26 & 26A

  • HCN by CTM-033 with analysis by electrochemical detection as specified in the Method. Alternative methods:
EPA M26/26A with analysis by CTM-033 (note - M26/26A sampling train for HCN may NOT include acid impinger) or
onsite FTIR spectroscopy (M320) providing near real-time data for process fine-tuning.

Hydrogen chloride & Hydrogen fluoride / EPA Methods 26 & 26A, EPA Method 320

  • Analysis in-lab by HPLC/IC. Alternative method: onsite FTIR spectroscopy (M320) providing near real-time data for process fine-tuning.

Methane / EPA Method 18, EPA Method 320

  • Methane (CH4) by Method 18 Tedlar bags or onsite GC/FID. Alternative method: onsite FTIR spectroscopy (M320) providing near real-time data for process fine-tuning.

Speciated Semi-volatile Organic HAP (including Polycyclic Organic Materials - POM) / U.S. EPA Method 0010 - SW-846 Method 8270C

  • Semi-volatile HAPs collected by M0010 isokinetic sampling train, with GC/MS analysis. Enthalpy's M8270C target compound list includes the 19 POMs specified in the ICR.

Fine Particulate Matter - PM2.5 / OTM-27

  • Cyclonic separation of filterable particles. Enhances M201A to include PM2.5. Gravimetric analysis with six-place balance for accuracy and precision required by the new methods. PM10 available if fractions are recovered separately.

Condensable Particulate Matter (CPM) / OTM-28

  • Dry impinger method designed to eliminate the bias associated with sulfate formation in Method 202 samples. Replaces M202 for CPM. TFE (ambient) 90mm filters available.
